Inked cushion surface
A stamp pad is a small cushioned container saturated with ink, used for inking rubber stamps.
The pad holds the ink in a spongy or felt surface so that pressing a stamp against it transfers enough ink for a clear impression: She pressed the date stamp onto the stamp pad before marking the document.
Also called an ink pad.
