spontaneous emission
Natural photon release
Spontaneous emission is the process by which an atom or molecule in an excited state releases energy by emitting a photon without external stimulation.
Unlike stimulated emission, it occurs randomly and independently.
The phenomenon is fundamental to how light bulbs glow, how stars shine, and how radioactive decay works.
The LED's glow results from spontaneous emission when electrons drop to lower energy states.
