A spitter is someone or something that spits.
In baseball, a spitter is a spitball—an illegal pitch where saliva or another substance makes the ball move unpredictably: The old-timer admitted he threw spitters his whole career.
The term also applies to anything that ejects in short bursts: a spitting cobra, a sputtering engine, or food that spatters grease.
