spin-out
Car loses control
A spin-out is a new company formed when a division or project separates from a larger parent organization, taking its technology, employees, or intellectual property with it: The biotech spin-out raised $50 million in its first funding round.
Common in corporate restructuring and university research commercialization.
Also spelled spinout.
Separately, a spin-out is a loss of vehicle control where the car rotates, especially on slick roads.
