A speed skier is someone who competes in speed skiing, a sport where skiers race straight down a steep, specially groomed slope to achieve maximum velocity.
Unlike slalom or downhill racing, there are no turns—the goal is pure speed, with competitors reaching over 150 miles per hour in aerodynamic suits and helmets.
