sowbugs

Garden soil crustaceans

Sowbugs are small land-dwelling crustaceans with segmented, oval bodies and multiple legs, found in damp environments under rocks, logs, and leaf litter.

Despite their name, they're not bugs but relatives of shrimp and crabs.

Unlike the similar pillbug, sowbugs cannot roll into a ball when disturbed.

Also called woodlice.
