pill bugs
Curling garden crustaceans
Pill bugs are small crustaceans that live on land, found under rocks, logs, and in damp soil.
Despite their name, they're not insects but relatives of shrimp and crabs.
When disturbed, they curl into a tight ball for protection—hence the name.
Also called roly-polies, woodlice, or sow bugs, though sow bugs technically don't roll up completely.
