soft hyphen
Optional line break
A soft hyphen is an invisible character inserted in a word to indicate where it may be broken at the end of a line.
Unlike a regular hyphen, it only appears when the word actually needs to wrap: The word "international" has a soft hyphen after "inter-".
In digital typography, it helps text flow more elegantly in narrow columns or justified layouts.
