social conservatives
Morality-focused right-wingers
Social conservatives are those who favor traditional values and institutions, particularly regarding family structure, sexual behavior, and religious influence in public life.
They typically oppose abortion, same-sex marriage, and permissive attitudes toward sex and drugs.
The term often implies resistance to rapid cultural change: Social conservatives mobilized against the curriculum changes.
Compare with fiscal conservatives, who prioritize economic issues.
