snowshed
Mountain rail protection
A snowshed is a protective structure built over railroad tracks or mountain roads to shield them from avalanches and heavy snow accumulation.
These long, tunnel-like shelters allow trains or vehicles to pass through while snow slides harmlessly over the roof: The train emerged from the snowshed into bright sunshine.
