smokeless powder
Ammunition's clean fuel
Smokeless powder is a propellant used in firearms and artillery, replacing the black powder that produced thick clouds of smoke when fired.
The shift to smokeless powder in the late 19th century transformed warfare—soldiers could fire without revealing their positions.
Despite the name, it produces some smoke, just far less than its predecessor.
