slaveholder

Bondage estate master

A slaveholder is a person who owns slaves—human beings held as property and forced to labor without freedom.

The term appears primarily in historical contexts, especially discussions of the antebellum American South: Many of the Founding Fathers were slaveholders.

Unlike the more clinical "slave owner," slaveholder emphasizes the person's role and identity rather than mere possession.
