skulling

Propelling with oars

Skulling is the act of rowing with a pair of oars, one in each hand, rather than a single oar pulled with both hands.

In competitive rowing, sculling events feature boats where each rower handles two oars: She's been skulling since college.

Skulling also means drinking a beverage in one continuous gulp, especially beer—chiefly British and Australian slang: He skulled his pint in seconds.
