tying up
Fastening with rope
Tying up is securing something with rope, cord, or line—a boat to a dock, a package for shipping, loose ends of a project.
To tie up resources or capital is to commit them so they're unavailable for other uses: Most of our money is tied up in the house.
To tie up a phone line or bathroom is to occupy it.
To be tied up is to be busy or unavailable: I'm tied up in meetings all afternoon.
