shvitz

Jewish steam room

Shvitz is Yiddish-derived slang meaning to sweat, especially profusely: I was shvitzing through my shirt by the second mile.

A shvitz is also a steam bath or sauna, from the sweating that occurs there: The old guys would sit in the shvitz for hours.

The word carries a casual, often humorous tone.
