shortsightedness
Can't see far
Shortsightedness is the quality of focusing on immediate concerns while failing to consider long-term consequences: The shortsightedness of the policy became clear within a decade.
It suggests a lack of foresight or planning.
The word also refers literally to nearsightedness—difficulty seeing distant objects clearly—though this sense is less common in American English.
