shirt pulling
Grabbing someone's garment
Shirt pulling is the act of grabbing or tugging an opponent's jersey, common in soccer and basketball as a tactical foul to impede movement or prevent a scoring opportunity.
Referees penalize it, but players do it anyway when beaten: He got away with some blatant shirt pulling on that play.
The term also describes any subtle, low-level cheating that's hard for officials to catch.
