shadow puppetry
Screen and silhouettes
Shadow puppetry is a performance art in which flat figures are held between a light source and a translucent screen, casting silhouettes that the audience watches from the other side.
The puppeteer manipulates jointed figures—traditionally made of leather or cardboard—to tell stories, often accompanied by music or narration.
The art form has ancient roots in Asia, particularly Indonesia, China, and Turkey.
