toy theater
Small paper playhouse
Toy theater is a miniature stage with paper or cardboard scenery and figures, used to perform plays in scaled-down form.
Popular in the 19th century as home entertainment, children and adults would reenact famous dramas using printed sheets of characters and backdrops.
The term sometimes extends to any small-scale theatrical production or puppet-like performance: The shadow play had a toy theater quality.
