setscrews

Threaded pressure fasteners

Setscrews are threaded fasteners designed to secure one object within or against another, typically by pressing directly against a surface rather than passing through it.

A setscrew often has no head or a recessed head that sits flush with or below the surface, and it commonly secures a pulley, gear, or collar to a shaft.

Tighten the setscrew to keep the knob from spinning freely.

The term is sometimes written as two words: set screws.
