knurled
Milled for grip
Knurled describes a surface with a pattern of small ridges or grooves, typically in a crosshatch or diamond pattern, designed to improve grip.
Tool handles, bottle caps, and adjustment knobs are often knurled so fingers don't slip: the knurled grip of a pistol, a knurled thumbscrew.
The technique is called knurling.
