sentry box
Soldier's standing post
A sentry box is a small shelter, typically just large enough for one person to stand in, where a guard or watchman is stationed.
These narrow, often roofed structures provide minimal protection from weather while allowing the sentry to remain visible and vigilant: The soldier stood at attention in the sentry box outside the palace gates.
