sensory thresholds
Perception boundary points
Sensory thresholds are the minimum levels of stimulation required to produce a sensation.
The absolute threshold is the faintest detectable stimulus—the quietest sound you can hear, the dimmest light you can see.
The difference threshold (or just-noticeable difference) is the smallest change in a stimulus you can perceive: Her sensory thresholds had shifted after the injury.
The concept is central to psychophysics and perceptual research.
