scribers
Metal scoring tools
Scribers are pointed tools used to scratch or score lines on metal, wood, or other hard materials—marking where to cut, drill, or shape.
The term also refers to people who scribe or write, though this use is uncommon: medieval scribers copying manuscripts.
In woodworking, a scriber traces the contour of an irregular surface onto material being fitted against it.
