school walkout
Classroom mass departure
A school walkout is a coordinated protest in which students leave their classrooms during school hours, typically to demonstrate against a policy, injustice, or social issue.
Unlike strikes organized by workers, walkouts are usually brief—lasting minutes to hours—and aim to draw attention rather than halt operations: Students staged a walkout to protest gun violence.
The term also applies to teachers leaving in solidarity or dispute.
