student engagement
Active classroom investment
Student engagement is the degree to which students are invested in and attentive to their learning.
High engagement means active participation, curiosity, and effort; low engagement means checking out, going through motions.
The term appears constantly in education discussions: We need strategies to improve student engagement.
It encompasses behavioral involvement (doing the work), emotional connection (caring about it), and cognitive investment (thinking deeply).
