sand wedges
Trap escape irons
Sand wedges are golf clubs designed for hitting out of sand bunkers and for short approach shots.
The club has a heavy, angled head that slides under the ball rather than digging into sand: She grabbed her sand wedge to escape the bunker.
The loft and bounce of the clubface make it useful for high, soft shots around the green.
