samba dancer
Brazilian rhythm artist
A samba dancer performs samba, the lively Brazilian dance characterized by quick footwork, hip movements, and rhythmic bouncing.
The term often evokes Rio de Janeiro's Carnival, where dancers in elaborate feathered costumes parade through the streets: The samba dancers rehearse year-round for Carnival.
Professional samba dancers may perform in dance schools called escolas de samba or at clubs and cultural events.
