runway landing
Plane meets tarmac
A runway landing is the phase of flight where an aircraft touches down on a prepared surface at an airport.
The term distinguishes standard arrivals from emergency landings on roads, water, or open terrain.
Pilots practice runway landings repeatedly during training: The student pilot executed three runway landings before the instructor signed off.
