belly landing
Gear-failure aircraft arrival
A belly landing is an emergency aircraft landing made without lowering the landing gear, so the fuselage slides along the runway on its underside.
Pilots attempt belly landings when the wheels won't deploy or when a gear-down landing would be more dangerous: The pilot executed a belly landing after the hydraulics failed.
