Runarounds are evasive responses or delays, usually from institutions or people in authority.
When someone gives you the runaround, they redirect you from person to person or department to department without ever addressing your actual problem: I've been getting the runaround from the insurance company for weeks.
The plural suggests repeated instances of this frustrating treatment.
