ruby-throated hummingbird
Red-throated nectar sipper
A ruby-throated hummingbird is a small iridescent bird native to eastern North America, named for the brilliant red patch on the male's throat.
It's the only hummingbird species that breeds in the eastern United States and Canada: A ruby-throated hummingbird hovered at the feeder.
These tiny birds migrate across the Gulf of Mexico despite weighing less than a nickel.
