royal wave
Queen's signature gesture
A royal wave is the distinctive hand gesture used by monarchs and other royals when greeting crowds—a slow, side-to-side rotation of the hand with the palm facing outward, fingers slightly cupped.
The controlled, almost mechanical motion allows sustained waving without fatigue during long processions.
By extension, any similarly stiff or performative wave: She gave us a royal wave from the car window.
