rowanberry

Red tree fruit

A rowanberry is the small red or orange fruit of the rowan tree, a mountain ash native to Europe and parts of Asia.

The berries grow in dense clusters and are too bitter to eat raw but are used in jellies, jams, and sometimes fermented into wine or spirits.

Rowanberry jelly pairs well with game meats.
