rope burn
Climber's palm injury
Rope burn is skin irritation caused by friction from a rope sliding rapidly across bare skin, producing redness, rawness, or blistering.
The term extends to similar abrasions from any rough material: I got rope burn on my palms from the zip line.
In bondage contexts, rope burn may result from restraints rubbing against skin during struggle or extended wear.
