riverweed
Submerged freshwater vegetation
Riverweed is any of various aquatic plants that grow attached to rocks in flowing freshwater streams and rivers.
The plants anchor themselves to submerged surfaces and trail in the current.
The term applies especially to species in the family Podostemaceae, found in tropical and subtropical waters.
