milfoil
Thousand-leaf plant
Milfoil is a plant with finely divided, feathery leaves—the name comes from a Latin word meaning "thousand leaves." It most commonly refers to yarrow, a flowering herb used in traditional medicine.
Milfoil also names several aquatic plants, particularly Eurasian watermilfoil, an invasive species that chokes lakes and waterways: The lake association spent thousands removing milfoil.
