The passenger seat is the front seat of a vehicle next to the driver.
In countries where drivers sit on the left, the passenger seat is on the right, and vice versa.
The term distinguishes this seat from rear seats, which are also for passengers: She rode in the passenger seat so she could navigate.
Someone who takes a passive role may be said to be in the passenger seat while others drive decisions.
