Rice cookers are electric kitchen appliances designed to cook rice automatically.
A heating element, thermostat, and insulated chamber work together to bring rice and water to a boil, then reduce heat to steam the rice until done.
Most models switch to a warming mode when cooking finishes.
Beyond rice, they often handle other grains, steam vegetables, or make porridge: I use my rice cooker for quinoa too.
