revisionists
Challenge accepted narratives
Revisionists are people who reinterpret established beliefs, narratives, or historical accounts.
The term is neutral in academic contexts—historians regularly revise understanding as new evidence emerges.
But revisionist often carries suspicion, implying someone is distorting accepted truth for ideological purposes: Holocaust revisionists, revisionist history.
In Marxist discourse, revisionists are those accused of abandoning orthodox doctrine.
