retries

Takes another shot

Retries are repeated attempts after initial failure.

The word appears most often in computing, where a system automatically retries a failed operation: The connection failed after three retries.

Outside technical contexts, retry works as both noun and verb: Give it another retry, I'll retry the recipe tomorrow.
