retraumatisation
Wound reopened psychologically
Retraumatisation is the experience of being traumatised again, typically when something triggers memories or feelings associated with an earlier trauma.
The term appears most often in clinical and therapeutic contexts, where procedures or questioning may inadvertently cause victims to relive their original trauma: The interview process risks retraumatising survivors of abuse.
Also spelled retraumatization.
