retinning
Refreshing tin layer
Retinning is the process of applying a fresh coat of tin to a metal surface, typically copper cookware.
Copper pots and pans are lined with tin to prevent the metal from reacting with food, but this lining wears away with use and must be periodically renewed: The old saucepan needs retinning.
