referring
Alluding to something
Referring is directing attention or making reference to something.
When you're referring to the email I sent yesterday, you're pointing back to it in conversation.
Referring also means the act of sending someone elsewhere for information or service: The doctor is referring me to a specialist.
The word always implies a connection between one thing and another.
