record scratch
Needle drags backward
A record scratch is the sound produced when a vinyl record's rotation is abruptly interrupted or reversed, creating a distinctive ripping noise.
DJs use scratching as a musical technique, rhythmically manipulating records for effect.
Figuratively, a record scratch signals a sudden interruption or jarring shift—the moment when everything stops: Record scratch. Freeze frame. You're probably wondering how I got here.
