saviors
Those who rescue
Saviors is the plural of savior, one who saves or rescues others from danger, destruction, or difficulty.
The word often carries religious weight—Christians call Jesus Christ the Savior.
But saviors appear in secular contexts too: The firefighters were hailed as saviors.
The term can be ironic when someone's help proves unwelcome or self-serving: He fancied himself the savior of the department.
