rapscallions

Troublemaking little rascals

Rapscallions is the plural of rapscallion, a playful or old-fashioned word for mischievous troublemakers or rogues.

The term sounds theatrical and is rarely used seriously today: Those rapscallions have been trampling through my garden again.

It suggests affectionate disapproval rather than genuine condemnation—naughty children or lovable scoundrels rather than actual villains.
