rail spur
Short track offshoot
A rail spur is a short branch of railroad track that diverges from a main line, typically ending at a specific destination like a factory, warehouse, or mine.
Spurs allow freight cars to be loaded or unloaded without blocking the main track: The grain elevator had its own rail spur.
