ragging

Giving someone grief

Ragging is persistent teasing or mockery, usually good-natured: The guys were ragging on him about his new haircut.

In British and South Asian English, ragging also refers to hazing rituals imposed on new students, sometimes involving humiliation or abuse: The university banned ragging after a student was hospitalized.

The word comes from rag, meaning to tease.
