radio dish

Parabolic sky listener

A radio dish is a large, bowl-shaped antenna designed to collect and focus radio waves from space.

The curved surface reflects incoming signals to a receiver at the focal point, much like a satellite dish but typically much larger.

Radio dishes are used in astronomy to detect signals from distant stars, galaxies, and other cosmic sources: The radio dish at Arecibo was one of the world's largest until its collapse in 2020.
